Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Sells 2.8 Million Copies Worldwide

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Sells 2.8 Million Copies Worldwide

Smash Brothers for the 3DS just came out last week. However, in one weekend Nintendo is raking in the dough. Smash for the 3DS has sold over 2.8 million copies worldwide. That includes all games sold in Japan, America, Europe, and Australia, in both retail and download form. The majority of these sales are from Japan, as the game has been on the market since September 13 th . That gave Japan a huge headstart. The game has sold over 2.43 million copies in Japan, and is still largely sold out, meaning that Japan alone has sold approximately half of all Smash Bros. copies.

However, that also means that Smash has doubled it’s lifetime sales from Japan over one short weekend of being out internationally and that is truly impressive.

Nintendo has recently announced that Smash Bros. for the Wii U will be launching on November 21 st in North America and December 5 th in Europe. The 3DS is Nintendo’s more popular system, so it will be interesting to see how the Wii U version competes.
