Bill Murray Still Down on Ghostbusters 3

Bill Murray Still Down on Ghostbusters 3

Despite the excitement surrounding a brand-new Ghostbusters film recently being announced (starring an all-female cast), it seems even this can’t crack the hardened exterior of Mr. Bill Murray (or alter his sour opinion of the project).

While other former cast mates have been open to the idea in the past (like Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the late Harold Ramis), Murray has always been the hold out. In a recent interview, the actor renewed his stance against returning for a third movie, essentially stating the series is dead. “The studio gets really crazy about it. What they really want to do is resurrect a franchise. The first one was a spectacular movie, one of the greatest movies. The second one was…It had some moves. It had a few good scenes in it. People say, ‘Bill, you could get so rich!’ I’m ok. I don’t look it, but I’m doing ok.” He said.

While Murray doesn’t rule out a possible cameo in the next film (which is expected to follow its own continuity but not completely throw out the plot of the first two), he insists things would have to be just right. In regards to scripts he’s read in the past, Murray states, “I read one that Danny wrote that was crazy bizarre and too crazy to comprehend…Those guys, Danny and Harold, were at the top of their game. They were burning nitro at that moment. Unless you have a really clear vision, you’re always trying to recreate that.”

We’ll bring you more once a firm release date for the current Ghostbusters film in-production has been set.
