Blizzard Entertainment’s Heros of the Storm just recently came back online after it went through its final account wipe, and the bigwig developer has been adding new content and inviting new players to the game since.
However, since entry to Heroes of the Storm’s Technical Alpha is still only done via periodic wave invites, not everyone can gain access to the developing game outside of just being patient and waiting your turn. To fix this, Blizzard has introduced a couple of new ways for new players to take part in the World of Warcraft – StarCraft – Diablo MOBA.
One of the two ways, as detailed on Blizzard’s Battle.net, is the simple procedure of filling out a small form via the official Heroes of the Storm Facebook page , where you have to submit your name, your email you registered your Battle.net account to, and your country of residence. If lucky, you’ll be one of 4,000 randomly-chosen players to take part in the game’s Technical Alpha.
The second way for you to get into the game is to have a friend who’s already participating in the Alpha. However, even this process requires some random selection. Essentially acting as a buddy program, all your friend has to do is reach Player Level 20 in Heroes of the Storm between Tuesday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 18. When done so, they’ll be automatically be entered into a random drawing and potentially be one of thousands who’ll be granted to invite all of their regional Battle Tag and Real ID friends to take part in the Technical Alpha.
While being accepted to gain access to Heroes of the Storm will still require a level of patience and randomness, these two new options allow for better chances to take part than idly waiting and twiddling your thumbs until your’e randomly selected by the next wave of invites.
“ If you don’t currently have access to Heroes of the Storm but have a friend that does, this is the perfect opportunity to encourage them to funnel their passion for Heroes and level up so that you can have an even better chance of joining them and fighting by their side in the near future! ” Blizzard writes.
“ This thrilling promotion will offer new and existing players ways to join us in testing Heroes of the Storm . Having friends able to play together will also help us test and refine our upcoming social features and modes. ”
