Gabe Newell Is Getting Death Threats Now

Gabe Newell, head of Valve and creator of the Steam platform, has recently received death threats, and no it isn’t because of #GamerGate. Instead it came from indie FPS rouglike game Paranautical Activity . The game was highlighted on the Steam store as a Halloween themed game. However, even though the game was 100% ready to launch, the game was advertised as “available in Early Access.” This lead developer Mike Maulbeck to tweet:

“ARE YOU F*CKING KIDING ME STEAM? WE JUST RELEASED OUT OF EARLY ACCESS AND THIS IS OUR FRONT PAGE BANNER?”

Not happy I’m assuming. The angry tweets continued, saying that the page misinformed fans, saying that it would affect the game’s sales, so on and so forth. However, they culminated in perhaps the grandest and most overreacting tweet ever: “I am going to kill Gabe Newell. He is going to die.”

Well, as a natural consequence Valve took the game down citing, “we have removed the game’s sales page and ceased relations with the developer after he threatened to kill one of our employees.”

And now the game isn’t selling well at all of course.

Can I honestly just ask a favor of the gaming community? Can we stop with the death threats all around? Just… really… they aren’t getting anyone anywhere and they are making us look like a bunch of stupid, whiney, entitled douchebags.
