It was interpreted by Ubisoft’s recent announcement of the Season Pass for its upcoming addition to the Far Cry series that Far Cry 4’s multiplayer would be locked behind a paywall, i.e. buying the Season Pass in order to gain access to the game’s online component, but word has come around that those worrying about such a thing have no reason to.
Following the confusion that came after the Season Pass’s announcement, Far Cry 4’s creative director, Alex Hutchinson, confirmed that the game’s multiplayer will be available to all those who buy Far Cry 4 , and reiterated that the Season Pass only adds an extra gamemode for the game’s multiplayer.
” Just so it’s clear: Multiplayer is for everyone who buys FC4 , no need to buy anything else, ” Hutchinson reassured over Twitter . ” There is an extra mode in DLC. ”
The game mode Hutchinson was referring to is “Overrun”, which is a player-versus-player game mode where you can play as either the Rakshasa or the Golden Path. With objectives similar to something to “Take and Hold” , in Overrun you have to capture territory around Kyrat whilst simultaneously defending said territory against being taken from opposing players.
The game mode itself comes as part of the $30 Season Pass, which includes four other DLC packs alongside it. The reason why people were initially confused about whether or not they had to buy into Far Cry 4’s multiplayer was because the Season Pass itself wasn’t clear on whether or not you had to buy it in order to gain access to the game’s online component; it wasn’t all that clear if Far Cry 4’s multiplayer would be available to those who didn’t buy the game’s Season Pass.
Alex Hutchinson also reassured everyone in an interview a few months back that the game will be “ packed to the gills with woman. ” What’s more is that said female characters will fill many prominent roles in FarCry 4 , including alongside the game’s antagonists.
FarCry 4 is slated to release on Tuesday, November 18 in North America and Europe for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. We’ll bring you more news on FarCry 4 should further information reach our ears.
