GameStop has announced a brand new promotion today. If you trade in your old PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, you can get a brand new PlayStation 4 at a reduced price. GameStop will give you 125 dollars in store credit to go toward the purchase, reducing the price to $275. Unfortunately, they are not giving you the same deal on Xbox Ones.
Of course, you might want to think twice about selling your old console for a new one. Remember that the PS4 is not backward compatible. So all of your old games will become obsolete once you make the trade in, and there are a lot of PS3 and Xbox 360 classics that you probably don’t want to lose.
Note, that you can get a similar discount on the Xbox One, not from Gamestop, but from the Microsoft Store. Trading in an old PS3 or Xbox 360 will get you 100 dollars off a purchase of an Xbox One, and coupled with the $50 holiday discount that just went into effect, that reduces the Xbox One to a mere $250 dollars, but similarly the Xbox One isn’t backwards compatible, just like the PS4, so you might want to think twice.
