Microsoft Will Not Sell White Xbox One Controllers Alone

Microsoft Will Not Sell White Xbox One Controllers Alone

If any of you picked up the Sunset Overdrive Xbox One bundle, you may have noticed that it came with a sleek white Xbox One controller. In my opinion this controller looks a lot better than the default Xbox One controller, with a nice rim of black at the top. It brings back fond memories of early Xbox 360 controllers when the white system was the standard.

Unfortunately, Microsoft is not planning to sell these controllers individually, and that doesn’t appear as if it will change anytime soon. Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg shot down the idea when asked about selling differnet colored controllers individually on Twitter. There are a number of other specialty controllers that have come out for the Xbox One, like the Titanfall controller and the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare controller, but these too were regulated to bundles and bundles only.

This means that white Xbox One controllers, at least those modeled after the Sunset Overdrive bundle, will become collector’s items, unless Microsoft later decides to offer controllers in a variety of colors. To be fair, their track record on that front is pretty good considering they sold multi colored and multi form controllers for both their previous consoles. Even so, it might not be such a bad idea to keep good care of your white Sunset Overdrive controller, at least for now.
