PS4 Problems Worsen With 2.0 Update

PS4 Problems Worsen With 2.0 Update

The 2.0 update for the PS4’s firmware was much awaited by many people. It was the update that integrated YouTube functionality, as well as several other features into the console.

Unfortunately, the update appears to be broken. Specifically, it somehow effects the console’s “rest mode” i.e. standby mode. This mode should allow the console to go into a low power state, but several complaints have turned up about consoles not powering on after the console enters rest mode. Other people are reporting internet connection freezes, and still others are reporting freezes and non-responsiveness issues when performing YouTube uploads. Even worse, some people are saying their game saves are corrupted and some can’t turn on their consoles at all!

Sony has said that they are looking into the problems right now, but they don’t yet have an answer. The best option seems to be attempting to boot your console into safe mode, but even that doesn’t solve all problems.

We will bring you more information on Sony’s fixes for these issues as they become available.
