Nintendo Reveals Their First Quality of Life Product

Nintendo has decided to expand away from video games into the quality of life sector. They have just revealed their first product for that market, a fatigue and sleep deprivation sensor.

A lot of these are on the market right now, attaching to your wrist and monitoring how restful your sleep is. However, Nintendo’s design is different. Nintendo’s device doesn’t actually need to be worn. Instead, it sits next to your bed, aimed at the sleeper. The device uses radio waves to measure your fatigue and sleep. Said glorious Nintendo president Satoru Iwata “Inside the QOL Sensor is a non-contact radio frequency sensor, which measures such things as the movements of your body, breathing and heartbeat, all without physically touching your body.”

He added: “Since fatigue per se is not regarded as a disease in the medical world, it is said to be a field where sufficient research has yet to be conducted. We have been fortunate to encounter several experts who have been conducting cutting-edge research in the science of fatigue. Together, we are now developing technology to estimate fatigue”.
