Apple CEO Admits He’s Gay, Thanks God for Gift

Apple CEO Admits He’s Gay, Thanks God for Gift

We’ve heard a lot about tolerance in gaming as of late and the importance of acceptance. In the midst of controversy surrounding hate-speech and online bullying, it’s easy to see why some would rather hide away in fear of reprisal.

That’s why you’ve got to handed it to Apple CEO Tim Cook for throwing all social insecurities aside and proudly admitting he’s gay for the first time (something many at Apple already knew but had yet to be made public). “I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me… I’ve come to realize that my desire for personal privacy has been holding me back from doing something more important. That’s what has led me to today.”  Cook says.

While no one should ever live in shame of who they truly are, some likely question the motivations of coming out now. Cook explains he hopes it will help inspire others still stuck in the closet, stating, “I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I’ve benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy.”

Congrats to Mr. Tim Cook and here’s to hoping more individuals follow his lead.
