With only just a couple of weeks away, bigwig publisher and developer Ubisoft has publicly declared that the fourth addition to the main Far Cry series, Far Cry 4 , has officially gone gold, and will be available on Sony’s PlayStation consoles and Microsoft’s Xbox consoles, as well as PC, on Tuesday, November 18 in North America.
Ubisoft announced this via its official blog, where it it also outlined what you can expect from the game when it releases. Taking on the role of Ajay Ghale, born in Kyrat and raised in America, who travels back to his birthplace for personal reasons, only to then be caught in the crossfire of a civil war. It’s believed that Ghale returns to Kyrat to fulfil his mother’s dying wish, according to Far Cry 4’s supposed plot synopsis that was leaked back in May.
“ When I look back at Far Cry 4’s development, I’m amazed at what the team pulled off, ” said Ubisoft’s executive producer, Dan Hay. “ We added verticality. We gave the player the ability to fly. We gave them the ability to fly in co-op. We gave them the ability to fly and have the other player down on the ground running around while they’re flying. We made the number of encounters way higher. The encounters are different, and the animals are different. The characters are unique, and your friends will have subtly different experiences with the story.
I’m proud of both the quality and the sheer volume in Far Cry 4 , ” he added.
The game’s co-op is touted to take on one of the best features of the Far Cry series, its open-world environments. You and a friend will be able take advantage of “ lots and lots of opportunities where it will be twice as much fun or twice as interesting or twice as funny with another person, ” according to Ubisoft’s creative director, Alex Hutchinson. The game’s new PvP aspect is also said to deliver a true Far Cry experience, where players will be able to take on mythical warriors of the Rakshasa, engage in asymmetrical and competitive gameplay, and more. It’s also been confirmed that the Far Cry 4’s multiplayer will not be locked behind a paywall.
What’s more is that the game’s overall experience is boosted to be fully integrated with its story, which contains choices that allegedly can make a big difference in the civil war of Kyrat.
“ After the critical and commercial success of the previous game, Far Cry is now one of Ubisoft’s top brands, ” pitched in Tony Key, Ubisoft’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Far Cry 4 will raise the bar for the series yet again. ”
