PS4 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Blocks Share Play

PS4 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Blocks Share Play

The most revolutionary new feature of the PS4 is Share Play, the ability to hop into a friend’s game and play it even if you don’t own a copy of the game. This has been heralded as a feature that will revolutionize gaming as we know it, allowing gamers to try before they buy, and letting people share their gaming experiences across the internet. Sony assured us that the Share Play feature would work in every game, however now it appears that is untrue and that has come as a big disappointment to gamers everywhere.

Specifically, players have found that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , the most recent Call of Duty + release from Sledgehammer and Activision, has blocked usage of this feature? How? Well there is a censor option for developers to use. This was meant to avoid spoilers from being shown during livestreams. However, Activision simply marked ALL gameplay in the game as censored. That way absolutely none of the gameplay can be streamed which means none of the gameplay can be taken control of remotely. When tested with Call of Duty: Ghosts the same thing applied.

This is a kind of disappointing way to get around one of the PS4’s best features, and will probably set Sony back quite a bit with their fans. It is unclear as to whether or not Sony will revise their rules of censorship to prevent this from happening in the future.
