Smash Bros. Smashes Pre-Order Records

Smash Bros. Smashes Pre-Order Records

Smash Bros. is a much desired game, a surprising fact to no one. But at this point, it’s actually the MOST desired game for the Wii U. According to Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime, the pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. Wii U have exceeded Mario Kart 8 ’s numbers, which was the original most desired game on the Wii U. Mario Kart 8 went on to sell 3.5 million copies, one of the best selling games on the Wii U thus far.

Unfortunately, Reggie did not provide a specific number for the amount of Smash pre-orders that came down the pipe. However, he does think that Smash will spur sales of the console. “The launch of Mario Kart 8 has essentially doubled our Wii U sales year-on-year,” he said. “Our expectation is that the sell-through for Smash is going to be very strong, certainly on par with what we saw with Mario Kart 8 . We think the impact on hardware will be similarly dramatic.”

What do you think? Will Smash Bros. sell the Wii U? Will you be picking it up? Let us know in the comments.
