Players Report Halo: Master Chief Collection Problems, Dev Responds

Halo: The Master Chief Collection finally released to the world last week, but already players are encountering problems with the game.

Halo fans and enthusiasts alike have debated on Reddit about the game’s supposed performance issues, with one fan saying that the game is “ totally broken from the menu and achievements to the campaign and multiplayer .

The severity of the issues have apparently come to a point where Halo fans have put together a list of the Master Chief Collection’s current bugs and what could be done to fix them and improve the game, along with responses from 343 Industries, the game’s developer.

According to the list, a lot of players’ problems with the game are stemming from its matchmaking (which apparently has exceptionally high queue times), with subsequent problems relating to the game freezing during matches and loading screens, losing party members whille exiting matchmaking, matches being played on peer-to-peer servers rather than dedicated ones, server hosts being able to end and / or bot players from matchmaking, and a lot more; some of them even nuanced between all four games featured in the Master Chief Collection : Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary , Halo 2 Anniversary , Halo 3 and Halo 4 .

Granted, some of the listed issues have been fixed, as 343 Industries acknowledged some of the problems that the developer is aware of, and issued out a patch soon after (which has now already been release).

Looking at our data logs, server-side adjustments that we have made over the past 24 hours have shown a 20% increase in server connectivity, ” 343 Industries’ executive producer, Dan Ayoub, stated in in a forum post on Halo Waypoint.

However, we are well aware that performance is not where it needs to be. Resolving Matchmaking issues also requires client-side fixes, which require a content update. The client side update, which focuses on Matchmaking performance, non-matchmaking bugs, and a variety of title-specific issues, has been completed and is going through testing and certification. We are currently targeting a release of Wednesday 11/19 for this content update.

We know the current Matchmaking experience is frustrating, and we continue to have various teams working 24/7 to isolate and resolve the issues to provide the best experience as soon as possible. We are going to continue to optimize the matchmaking experience after next week’s content update, and make further adjustments as needed. We thank you for your continued patience.

Ayoub also apologised earlier on for the problems players were experiencing during the launch of the Master Chief Collection , and promised to improve things as soon as possible–the recent patch is proof of that. The developer has even kept track of some of the bugs it is aware of in a public forum, which also details what tweaks and improvements have been done to the game already.

While some Halo fans are still experiencing problems, at least 343 Industries are on the ball and honest about the problems players are having, and are working to correct those problems. We’ll bring you more more news on Halo: The Master Chief Collection should further information reach our ears.
