New Destiny Update Adds Voice Chat, Iron Banner Event, 230 Items and Much More

Destiny’s foundation patch for its “ The Dark Below ” expansion rolled out across all launch platforms, bringing with it a hell-of-a-lot of new items, new activities, several big fixes and–after much request–a fully functioning in-game voice chat feature.

Coined as “update 1.0.3”, the new patch for the game is described as providing “ new social features, revisions to activities, alterations to competitive spaces, adjustments to the player overall experience, as well as a sizable download of new content and geometry to support the first expansion of the world of Destiny . ” To boot, the patch also introduces the return of the Iron Banner event to the game as well, which is a PvP event that’s touted to be hard-as-balls.

With the new voice chat feature, you’ll now be able to talk with your fireteam companions while in-game, during Strikes or team-based Crucible matches. According to a growing post on Reddit, 230 items, seven activity types and 35 more activities have reportedly been added to the game.

What’s more is that little things like increased Bounty slots (from five to 10), shader and emblem preview functionalities, and Motes of Light and Strange Coins redirecting to the Postmaster should your inventory be full have been implemented into the game, along with fixes to vendors, Crucible maps, and even a little touch-up on the game’s HUD. According to Eurogamer, the update itself is a large download of 2.44GB.

The update’s full patch list can be read in further detail via the first source link below. A working list of the added items and more can be read via the second source link.
