Sega is apparently willing to entirely tear down Sonic’s personality and history in their attempt to make him more edgy for current audiences. Artists Craig Harris and Nicolas P Villareal recently posted concept art that they did for the Sonic Boom project to their Facebook pages and they are just… incredibly out there.
Pictures include Sonic in a t-shirt and shorts, Sonic with a fanny pack, Sonic in long flowing robes, Sonic looking more like a photorealistic hedgehog, Sonic looking like some sort of weird rejected Warner Brother’s cartoon, Sonic with tribal paint, Sonic wearing sandals, and more. There were even attempts to redesign Eggman from the red wearing mustached villain that he was to some sort of derpy teenage overall wearing mechanic.
