Super Smash Bros 3DS Gets Another Balance Patch

Super Smash Bros 3DS Gets Another Balance Patch

Version 1.04 of Smash Bros. on the 3DS is out. The only thing that was patched this time around was character balance. Nintendo has given us in-depth patch notes, which you can find below.

Adjustments will be made to balance the game.

Other adjustments will be made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

OK, so maybe they aren’t so in-depth. Fans of the game are hard at work trying to figure out what has been changed in this update, but currently more testing is needed. Clash Tournaments has a preliminary change list, however, and most of the changes involve the removal of hit-stun or lag canceling moves.

  • Greninja can no longer cancel landing lag with his Shadow Sneak attack.
  • Diddy Kong can no longer cancel hitstun with his Peanut Popgun.
  • Mega Man can no longer cancel hitstun with Rush Coil.
  • Pikachu’s Thunder now only fills up Mr. Game and Watch’s bucket by one block.
  • Luma can still attack while Rosalina is grabbed, and when her shield is broken (can not confirm if Luma can attack if Rosalina is in hit stun).
  • Luma takes roughly 13 seconds to respawn, compared to 8 seconds previously.
  • Falco can shoot subsequent lasers quicker while standing (not featured in the video).
  • Toss Canceling with Peach, Link, and Toon Link is removed.
  • Yoshi no longer has teleporting glitches related to his Egg Toss.
  • Roll canceled pivot grabs have been removed (appears to be the case, but not 100% confirmed).

One thing that is confirmed, however, is that you can only play online with people who are running the same version as you. So make sure that all of your friends are updated.
