Square-Enix Making New Chrono Trigger Style Final Fantasy Game

Square-Enix Making New Chrono Trigger Style Final Fantasy Game

Yes, Square-Enix is making a sort of spiritual sequel to Chrono Trigger … kind of. The game in question is called Final Fantasy Legends: The Space-Time Crystal . In this game the future is destroyed by an evil god. Your goal is to go back in time and change the future to make sure that the horrible fate does not come to pass.

The game’s director is Takashi Tokita, who originally had a hand in developing Chrono Trigger . The Space-Time Crystal is inspired by everyone’s favorite time traveling SNES game, as well as games like Final Fantasy V and VI .

The game focuses on a protagonist named Tomorrow, who lives in present day, and meets Emo, a girl from the future who warns him of the world’s fate. The game will focus on story, and will weave a narrative much like the classic 16 bit SNES Final Fantasies did.

There’s only one problem, however. The game won’t be coming out for any consoles or PC. Instead, it will be coming out on mobile platforms which seems to be the platform that Square-Enix is focusing on for its classic JRPGs. It will be coming out on both iOS and Android this winter in Japan. Whether or not it will come out in America is yet to be seen.
