World of Warcraft Subs Have Shot Up Since Latest Expansion

Needless to say, thanks to the release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor , the subscriber count for the decade-old MMORPG has shot back up above 10 million subscribers, which is reportedly the highest subscriber count since 2012.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, not only did World of Warcraft reach 10 million subscribers again, but it also managed to sell 3.3 million copies of the game within the first 24 hours of Warlords of Dreanor’s launch.

We’re thrilled that so many players jumped in to play Warlords of Draenor on day one and are having a great time with the new content, ” said Blizzard’s CEO and co-founder, Mike Morhaime. “ We poured a lot of hard work and passion into this expansion, and we appreciate all the kind words from players and the overwhelming support they continue to show for World of Warcraft .

Game Informer has also pointed out that since World of Warcraft’s latest expansion was released, over 2.6 million new subscribers have joined the game, pushing the game’s subscriber count up from 7.4 million since the end of this year’s third quarter.

Warlords of Draenor has a bit of a rocky start, as some technical and demand-related issues made it difficult for players in some regions to enjoy the game, After rolling out a series of updates across the board, however, Blizzard claims that game has been running smoothly since.
