Sony Confirms No Hacker Infiltration into PlayStation Network

In light of the recent alleged hacking and leaked customer login information across a few social networks, Sony has confirmed that its PlayStation Network was not compromised following independent investigation.

According to reports, 2,313 PlayStation Network logins were leaked by the professed hacker group DerpTrolling, along with supposedly thousand of other login details as well.

We have investigated the claims that our network was breached and have found no evidence that there was any intrusion into our network, ” a Sony representative told Joystiq, regarding the incident. ” Unfortunately, Internet fraud including phishing and password matching are realities that consumers and online networks face on a regular basis. We take these reports very seriously and will continue to monitor our network closely.

As reported by CNet, the hacker group also apparently leaked login information for 2,000 2K Games accounts and 1,473 Windows Live accounts. However, follow up reports state that the information leak may have been faked, though to what extent is not known yet. The document of the login information the group released online has also reportedly been removed as well.

It’s understandable if users wish to change their login details following this supposed leak, even if it’s just for peace of mind. We’ll bring you more news on this should further information reach our ears.
