It’s been reported that Activision is taking down certain Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare videos from YouTube for containing particular glitches. As a result, some YouTubers have had their offending videos copyright striked.
This isn’t to say that the Call of Duty publisher is taking down all Advanced Warfare glitch videos, just apparently some; those which focus on cheats and exploits within the game, claims Activision. Nonetheless, YouTubers posting Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare videos are cautioned to be careful about what they upload, especially if it involves glitches, so as to avoid the hammer from Activision.
With that being said, there are reportedly still Advanced Warfare glitch videos out there. Activision has assured that it look looking for a specific kinds of Advanced Warfare glitches, specifically those that could potentially help players cheat or take advantage of the game’s elements.
“We’re excited that so many fans are having fun playing the game and posting videos of their gameplay. We love watching the videos ourselves. Occasionally, some folks post videos that promote cheating and unfair exploits. As always, we keep an eye out for these videos—our level of video claims hasn’t changed. We are appreciative of the community’s support in helping to ensure that everyone has the best playing experience possible,” said Activision in a statement to Kotaku.
However, YouTube networks like Machinima have a different say on the matter, and they have nonetheless warned their partners about Activision’s intent.
“Recently Machinima notified it’s network partners that posting content about Call of Duty videos may receive a strike if flagged by Activision. Machinima was prompted to take this action in order to inform its network partners so that they would remain in good standing on YouTube, ” Machinima said in its statement to Kotaku .
“ When a channel receives a certain number of strikes it is possible that they may be blocked as a YouTube partner. Machinima’s actions are to protect not only its network partners, but its publisher partners as well.”
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is now available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. We’ll bring you more news on the game should further information reach our ears.
