New Information Explains Evolve’s Different Game Modes

The developers behind Evolve have released new information regarding the game’s different game modes and how they work in context of its campaign structure. Specifically, this new information touches on the game’s four different game modes, which are a part of an umbrella game mode. All of them have been bullet-pointed below.

  • Evacuation

  • Hunt

  • Nest

  • Rescue

  • Defend

Evacuation boasts over 800,000 different possible paths with a combination of its other game modes, maps and campaign effects. There are five days in Evacuation to decide the victor of the game mode, and each day has five rounds to survive through. If you win throughout these five days, you’ll regain control of the planet. What’s more is that however you win / lose one gamemode, an effect will carry on over to the next one.

So, as one example, the Dam is saved and the Hunters win for that day.As a result, the workers are able to power up Perimeter Fences, which cut neighboring maps into half sized portions, creating an interesting advantage for the Hunters, ” the official Evolve website examples. “ That’s just one possible game-changing outcome from one map.

The first day of the campaign always starts as a Hunt game mode on a random map. The aim of this game mode is simple: Hunters have to hunt down the Monster before it can destroy the maps objective. Regardless of who wins this game mode, the next game mode to follow Hint is up to the players. A selection of two different territories will be offered, and players will have to vote on which territory and which game mode they want to play.

One of those game modes could be Nest, in which players will have to hunt down the Monster’s eggs while it tries to protect them. These eggs are randomly scattered across the map, making the hunting / protecting of the eggs quite difficult. If the Monster collects its eggs, it’ll have the option to hatch one of them into a stage one Goliath minion that’ll run around and harass the Hunters. The Hunters themselves when when they destroy all the eggs and the minion, or when they kill the Monster itself.

Another game mode you might find yourself involved in is Rescue, where Hunters will have to save randomly-placed injured colonists who are trying to escape from the Monster. Upon finding a colonist, Hunters will need to revive them and escort them to safety. Meanwhile, the Monster has to eat as many as these colonists as possible. Whichever side saves / kills the most colonists wins.

Finally, the last game mode might get into is Defend. This particular game mode is akin to a last stand, where the winner takes all. As Hunters, you’ll need to desperately defend a given map’s evacuation point while a ship is fueling up to escape. As the Monster, you’ll be leading your own mini army of Goliaths as you siege the Evacuation point in waves.
