Has Driveclub Been Bad for Business? Sony Says No.

While not every debut can be expected to run smooth as silk, I think it’s safe to say the launch of #DRIVECLUB was a cluster f*ck even Sony didn’t quite expect.

But that’s all water under the bridge now (as far as the head honchos at the PlayStation offices are concerned anyway). In a recent interview, Jim Ryan (who is manager of European PlayStation operations) was quick to tamp down the notion that the bumpy release of their next-gen racer has affected their standing in the marketplace. “Has it dampened our momentum? No. Has it damaged our reputation? I don’t think so. People understand that mistakes do get made so as long as you apologize and make them right. That’s the main thing.” Says Ryan.

However, that doesn’t mean Sony won’t admit their mistakes and offer up a much needed apology when warranted. In regards to fan’s disappointment, Ryan acknowledges “…there have been problems and we’re really sorry to anyone who has suffered from those issues…we shouldn’t really launch a game before it’s ready. And clearly we’ve made mistakes and we apologize for that.”

#DRIVECLUB has slowly but surely gotten back on track (for the most part) and is currently available exclusively on the PS4.
