They got a lot of windup though. Square-Enix began an impressive speech alluding to a remake of Final Fantasy VII . However, they didn’t give their fans Final Fantasy VII . Well, they did, but in its original low res PlayStation graphics, and now on the PS4! While Square-Enix did say the textures would be reworked, it is once again a repackaging of an old game. Essentially, we are just purchasing the PC version again.
You could see the looks of confusion in fan’s faces as they saw the game’s blocky graphics. The clapping was tentative at best when the trailer finished. No one wanted this. We have been clamoring for a true HD remake of the best Final Fantasy of all time for years, and Square-Enix just will not give it to us.
If anything proves that Square-Enix is out of touch with their user fanbase, it’s this.
