Your Progress in Elite: Dangerous Won’t be Wiped at Launch

Elite: Dangerous , the rival to Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen and competition against Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky , is nearing its launch date . Slated to release worldwide on PC next week on Tuesday, December 16, it has been confirmed by Frontier Developments’ community manager, Edward Lewis, that in-game data and progress for individual players won’t be wiped when Elite: Dangerous officially launches.

Announced on the official Elite: Dangerous forums, which later turned into a thread of over 100 pages plus, the revelation has been met with mixed reactions; both praises and complaints. Many early players of the game are thankful that their Alpha/Beta progress won’t be entirely lost, but other early players are reportedly unhappy with the idea. One issue being raised is that those who have used pre-release exploits to excel in the game won’t be punished with a progress wipe.

In response to this scenario, Frontier Developments’ executive producer, Michael Brookes, affirmed that the developer will deal with cheating individually if it needs to.
