PS4 Friend Notifications Soon to be a Thing?

PS4 Friend Notifications Soon to be a Thing?

A recently published video from Sony teases that friend notifications might soon be on their way to PlayStation 4 users.

The 50-second video, focusing primarily on the console’s social features, briefly displays a pop-up–with a player’s name–during a session of Destiny , saying that a friend has just signed onto their PlayStation 4. From this, the Destiny player then brings up the PlayStation 4’s party feature to invite the friend to a chat room.

Hook up with friends to play together – or just to chat, no matter what games you’re all playing – by setting up a Party on you PS4. This is for the players, ” the video’s description reads.

Currently, a friend notification feature has yet to be introduced into the PlayStation 4’s system, despite it reportedly being one of the most-requested implementations for the console.

The video itself could be interpreted as an indication that Sony is finally looking to bring friend notifications to its current-gen console, but the company has yet to officially anything regarding such.

The video itself has been embedded below for you to watch if you so desire. We’ll bring you more news on the PlayStation 4 should further information reach our ears.
