Call of Duty Sales Continue to Decline

Call of Duty Sales Continue to Decline

Is the time of Call of Duty over? According to the numbers it might be. According to NPD numbers, Call of Duty sales are down 27 percent from last year. Activision sales were down 22 percent compared to last year.

Of course, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was November’s best selling game. So perhaps people aren’t becoming jaded with Call of Duty . Perhaps they are just getting jaded with video games in general. Then again, NPD data doesn’t include digital copies, which means that people may just be switching over to digital distribution as we move into the next-generation of gaming.

This is just part of a continuing trend for Activision and the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty: Ghosts did not sell as well as Call of Duty: Black Ops II , which did not sell as well as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 . So the whole franchise has kind of been going downhill for a while, while still managing to top the charts during its release.

What do you make of these numbers? Let us know in the comments.
