Microsoft Confirmed as Tomb Raider Sequel’s Publisher

Microsoft Confirmed as Tomb Raider Sequel’s Publisher

When Tomb Raider’s sequel was announced as a timed exclusive (causing unintentional confusion ) for the Xbox One, it wasn’t solidly known which company would publish the game: Microsoft or Square Enix. In a tweet that went out last week, Xbox’s marketing manager Aaron Greenberg confirmed that Microsoft will be the company publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider . This was also confirmed by Square Enix itself, which stated that Microsoft would be providing support in both the development and publishing of Rise of the Tomb Raider .

Microsoft has always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and they will get behind this game with more support across development, marketing and retail than ever before, which we believe will be a step in continuing to build the Tomb Raider franchise as one of the biggest in gaming ”, Square Enix stated.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is currently slated for a holiday 2015 release for Xbox One consoles. Information on when the Tomb Raider sequel will arrive on the PlayStation 4 has not been revealed. It’s believed that the timed Xbox exclusivity will last for some time.
