Telltale Developing Minecraft Story Mode!

Telltale Developing Minecraft Story Mode!

While the pixelated world of Minecraft might be an 8-bit builder’s dream, the last thing anyone expected was to one day play through a story mode based in the massive sandbox.

Leave it to Telltale to break the mold, as they’ve made quite a name for themselves when it comes to crafting engaging titles based on familiar IPs. The announcement was made via the studio’s blog , announcing that the Minecraft-based campaign will be an “…all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale in collaboration with Mojang. Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices.”

This might not be considered new content for Minecraft itself, but we have news on that front as well. According to the folks over at the Xbox Wire , the latest patch (1.6.4) will bring several fun additions like horseback riding and fireworks. Here’s the complete rundown posted to the site earlier today:

  • Tame and ride horses!
  • Use those horses to run away from the new Wither Skeletons, Witches, and Bats (among other nasty things)!
  • Equip your horse with horse armor!
  • Name your horse something really cool… and while you’re at it, use the new name tag item to give a less-cool name to your new donkey!
  • Build a whole ton of fireworks, and program them to go off when the sun goes down!
  • Set off those fireworks to celebrate the successful crossbreeding of your new horse and donkey, and the birth of your new mule!
  • Name that mule!
