New Steam Controller Design Leaked

New Steam Controller Design Leaked

Yet another new design for the Steam controller has been leaked. This peripheral, meant to be the primary controller for the almost mythical Steam Box, has undergone yet another revision. Now, it is no longer primarily touchpad based, as more buttons and a d-pad have been added.

The image, as you can see above, shows that a d-pad has been added to the left touch pad. Below that is the controller’s only analog stick. Next to the stick are four face buttons and above that is a full touch pad. In the middle are two menu function buttons and a “home” button. Finally, on the backside of the controller are two bumpers and two triggers. As it stands, it kind of looks like an odd fusion of the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U Pro controller.

Right now it looks like the d-pad is some sort of fusion between a touch pad and d-pad. It’s not quite clear how it works right now. It’s also unclear whether or not the d-pad is raised or is just a marking on the touch pad.

We will bring you more information on the Steam controller as it becomes available.
