Skullgirls Getting Marvel Style Super Jumps

Skullgirls Getting Marvel Style Super Jumps

It appears as if Skullgirls is picking up where Marvel vs Capcom left off. From day one, one of the design philosophies of Skullgirls was that super jumps wouldn’t take your character off screen. However, in a recent beta update, Mike Z decided to change this policy and try something new.

In a recent update, Mike Z decided to put VS game style super jumps into the game. Characters jumped twice as high, flying characters flew twice as fast, velocity was cut if you hit with an attack on the way up, and you could control your trajectory on the way down. That’s all pretty cool, but a lot of fans said that it didn’t feel very Skullgirlsy. So Mike Z, in today’s update, tried a hybrid of the two. Now Superjumps only make you jump about 10% higher than you did before, though you still have control over your trajectory. In addition, all launcher heights are normalized, making it a bit easier to connect with air combos. Flying character’s like Painwheel have been adjusted accordingly.

Now that Capcom has cut off support for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 , perhaps Skullgirls can step up to take its place? We will bring you more information on the evolution of the still growing game as it becomes available.
