This PS4 Accessory Will Let You Use Desktop HDDs

3.5-inch hard drives are the ones you find in desktop computers, while 2.5-inch hard drives are typically found in laptops. Introduced at this year’s CES event, an accessory for the PlayStation 4 has been announced that’ll let you use desktop hard drives to replace the console’s internal laptop-size storage.

Nyko unveiled this accessory during its conference, coining it as the Data Bank. Slated to hit shelves in the “first half” of this year, the device is described as a dock that’ll enable you to fit bigger hard drives into your console should you so desire. However, it’s worth nothing that the accessory itself won’t ship with a desktop hard drive included.

The Data Bank wasn’t the only thing Nyke revealed during its time in the spotlight. It also showed off its accessory for the console’s DualShock 4 controller. In the vein of what the was available for the Xbox 360’s controller, the Type Pad is an attachment that slots into the DualShock 4. The device’s title explains it all; the accessory itself is a little keyboard with orange-bordered keys.

CES is an event where companies big and small go to show off their new promising gadgets. This year has seen Samsung’s quantum TVs, the Oculus Rift model and much, much more. It’s currently being held in Las Vegas, and will keep going until Friday, January 9.
