Elite: Dangerous Receives “Significant Update” Next Month

The recently published space simulator, Elite: Dangerous , will be receiving an update next month that’s claimed to be “significant”. The game’s 1.1 update will ent er Beta during the first week of February, according to the game’s executive producer Michael Brookes. According to him, the update will bring “a new way to collaborate with other players,” and it’ll also prepare the game for its promised 1.2 “ Wings ” update.

While specific details weren’t provided, Elite: Dangerous’ 1.1 patch will also increase the maximum distance for the game’s route planner, which allow for you to schedule longer journeys between areas of space. Brookes added that Frontier Developments is currently looking at extending this distance to 1,000 light years. While 1.1 has been slated for early-February, the game’s 1.2 update is anticipated to enter Beta testing in the first week of March. Aside from Wings, this update is said to focus on “multiplayer goodness” for the game.

The executive producer also assured that regular updates that focus on either urgent or low-risk issues will still be delivered. He also promised that further details on Elite: Dangerous’s 1.2 update will be shared in the future. In the meantime, Brookes teased that more information on the game’s 1.1 update would be talked about “next week.”

Elite: Dangerous is currently available on PC (Windows and Mac). After two years since it was successfully kickstarter, the game finally released  worldwide in December last year.
