Nintendo keeps breaking its records month after month. Recently they claimed that they sold more Wii U’s than they ever had this holiday season, specifically in November. A lot of this success is attributed to the release of the killer app Super Smash Bros. as well as several other much anticipated titles such as Mario Kart 8 .
Hardware sales rose by 29 percent when compared to the same period last year, and software sales rose by 75 percent. This doesn’t quite but the Wii U in the running for winning the console wars, but certainly does show that it is back on the market, at the very least as the “second console” everyone gets.
“Wii U had its strongest year yet thanks to the highly anticipated software line-up and the introduction of the amiibo platform,” said Nintendo of America marketing executive Scott Moffitt.
