Dark Souls Fan Breaks Speedrunning Record at 49 Minutes

Speedrunner Kahmul78 has set a Dark Souls world record by beating the game in just 49 minutes and 55 seconds. However, The speedrunner himself was displeased with the result, saying that it “much worse” than his previous record. He managed to shave off 35 seconds from his previous personal best of 50 minutes, nine seconds by using a new strategy, but he expects that this milestone will “be beaten very soon,” whether by him or by someone else was made unclear.

From start to finish, Kahmul78 hits the ground running. Even the beginning of the game, where players can customize the traits and appearance of their character, was not exempt from being sped through in decisive fashion. For each section of the game he played, there was a self-established goal to reach, ranging from just over 10 minutes to under an hour. The best sum of all the segments combined was initially 49 minutes 50 seconds. Even though Kahmul78 was offset by five seconds, he still managed to beat his previous best nonetheless.

The whole playthrough can be viewed via Twitch TV, along with Kahmul78’s other archived speedrun attempts. You can watch it via the source link below.
