Destiny Fan Built a Contraption to Grind for Them

Destiny Fan Built a Contraption to Grind for Them

A crafty Destiny fan has put together a miniature machine that players Destiny for them, albeit in a very limited sense. Essentially, servos were attached to an Xbox controller and were calibrated so that the movements made by the contraption would be inputted into the game. The fan, known on Reddit as yavin427, configured the setup so that it would repeatedly kill waves of enemy Hive by itself, without any human input.

Done so the majority of grinding for experience could be done for them, yavin427 put together their invention “just for the hell of it,” as leveling up their other Destiny character “felt so joyless.” Yavin427 admits that it would be faster to grind for experience manually, and doesn’t disagree with those who feel the technique is “pathetic”. However, they add that the whole thing was “much less an exploit…than a bit of fun, just to see if it could be done.”

With the most recent version of the invention, yavin427 managed to level up their Titan from just under level 18 to level 20 overnight. They calculated that the character seemed to be gaining between 15 to 215 experience points per wave of Hive, and so decided to leave it running whilst they slept. The result was a level 20 Titan by the next morning, with over 3,600 kills, 900 deaths and 50 green engrams to show for it. The various iterations of the device were documented on video, the final one of which has been embedded below to view. The rest can be view via the source link.
