MythBusters Will Test if DOOM is Feasible in Real-life

Bethesda has announced that an upcoming episode of MythBusters that’s suggested to tackle myths relating to the first-person shooter genre of videogames. One of videogames that the show will be addressed is DOOM , and whether or not carrying multiple weapons at a given time will be viable in situations as experienced in the DOOM games. The episode itself will air on Discover, on Saturday, January 31.

ID software’s creative director Tim Willits will team up with the shows hosts, Adam savage and Jamie Hyneman, and will be “u sing the DOOM universe and DOOM 3: BFG Edition for reference.” The line of first-person shooter myths has not yet been revealed, although that’s assuming there will other first-person shooter myths covered. While DOOM has been confirmed, additional first-person shooters have yet to be detailed. Considering the proximity to when the episode actually broadcasts, it’s likely this information won’t be revealed until this weekend–when the episode itself airs.

The episode’s trailer shows that the hosts will have to navigate a real-life recreation of a DOOM level, picking up weapons and ammunition along the way. It’s even implied that (at some point) the hosts may have to carry a chainsaw in amongst everything else they may have picked up already. Health packs will also have to be carried as well. The trailer itself has been embedded below.
