Best Buy has been cancelling pre-orders for the Limited Edition Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL, which is reported to be affecting those who pre-ordered two units of the new 3DS handheld. Seemingly following a “one per person” policy, those who ordered two will have their second on cancelled. Considering the finite quantity the special edition New 3DS XL, this is action is believed to offer a more fairer chance to other customers who may yet buy one.
Best Buy’s decision was conveyed via email to those who pre-ordered two units of the Limited Edition Majora’s Mask New 3DS X. The criteria of those affected includes those who used the same bank card or shipping address to order two handhelds, regardless if they were bought for one person or more. Included in the email, customers were reportedly offered a $50 credit code as compensation, although it’s reported that some affected customers didn’t receive such an offer.
The terms of use for the credit code allow for customers to shave $50 off towards one of two options: New 3DS XL (Black) or New 3DS XL (Red). The discount can also be used on other products via Best Buy’s online store as well. Best Buy assures that any payments made by credit cards, debit cards or any other method of payment will be refunded according for the canceled order.
“We’re sorry but there is an issue with your pre-order,” the email says. “The popularity of Nintendo 3DS XL Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Limited Edition Gold / Black exceed the quantities made available to Best Buy. As a result, we are unable to fulfil all the pre-orders received.”
