Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada Wants To Crossover Every Fighting Game Ever

Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada Wants To Crossover Every Fighting Game Ever

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada recently sat down with Polygon and talked about his “bucket list” in terms of what he wants to accomplish before he retires. His big dream? The world’s greatest crossover fighting game. The idea would be to take characters from Capcom, Sega, Koei Tecmo, SNK, Warner Bros, Data East, and all other fighting game producers (Arc System Works and Lab Zero we are looking at you) and put all their characters together into one huge fight fest. Yes, this means that Ryu could square off against Sub Zero. Akira could fight Kazuya. Terry Bogard could fight Sol Badguy. It’s like Mugen but… better.

Harada says he wouldn’t want this to be a party game like Smash Bros. He would want it to be a hardcore fighting game incorporating systems from every franchise. “And I’d want to have a disclaimer,” he says. “You know how for horror games, it says, ‘Not for children’? I’d want to have, ‘Not for casual users. Only for hardcore gamers.'”

He says given the current state of Japan’s gaming industry, only Capcom or Bandai Namco could pull such a game off, but he would love to see it happen before he retires.
