Here Are the Current Story Facts for Uncharted 4

Detailed in a press release published last Friday, January 23, the current facts of Naughty Dogs’ Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End were revealed. It’s likely that some or many of these facts will change closer to the game’s release later on this year, so the details of the press release may not be representative of the final product. A PlayStation 4 exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment, and will be an action-adventure shooter.

The game itself is set three years after Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception , where the franchise’s protagonist Nathan Drake embarks on another adventure with much more personal stakes. Apparently leaving the life on fortune hunting behind, Drake is brought back in when he is contacted by his brother, Sam, who requests Drake’s possibly life-saving help. Sam also offers Drake adventure he can’t resist.

In Uncharted 4 , Drake will be pursuing a “historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure” that belongs to Captain Henry Avery. It’s also touted that every treasure found in the game will have its own cost, and that the adventure as a whole is also said to test Drake’s resolve and willingness to sacrifice so he may save the people he cares about. Both Drake and Sam depart to find Libertalia, a supposed pirate utopia located in Madagascar. The adventure doesn’t stop there, as it’s implied that the duo may also see “jungle isles, urban cities and snow-capped peaks” as they search for Avery’s treasure.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is touted to be “the most epic Uncharted adventure yet,” featuring dynamic gameplay mechanics for both combat and traversing through environments. There will also be “larger and more open environments” to explore, in addition to “enhanced graphics and character animations.” A more specific release date has yet to be announced of the game, but it will release exclusively on PlayStation 4 at some point later on this year.
