Witcher 3’s Optimization Won’t Compromise Visual Fidelity

Witcher 3’s Optimization Won’t Compromise Visual Fidelity

CD Projekt RED has delayed the third installment to the main Witcher series twice now, but not without reason. Pushed back to release on Tuesday, May 19, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is almost already finished , but the developer is making use of the second delay’s buffer to ensure the game will run as smoothly as possible.

During a video interview with Eternity (which occurred during CD Projekt RED’s showcase event of the latest Witcher 3 build), the developer’s art producer Michael Stec explained that the game’s visual fidelity will not be compromised to allow for increased performance.

“We are not downgrading [ The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ]. We are optimizing the game but in a way that doesn’t affect the visuals,” Stec told Eternity. He continued to say that there is still a lot of work for CD Projekt RED to do, and that optimizing the game was one of the reasons why The Witcher 3 was delayed again. “We still have to optimize [the game] to get the best performance for [gamers] as possible,” Stec added.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was first delayed back in March last year, when it was announced that the game would launch in February 2015. However, it was delayed again last December to the current May release date. You can watch Eternity’s interview with Michael Stec via the embedded video below.
