The latest game in the Danganronpa series is going to make its way over to our shores. Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is a bit of a divergence from the standard Danganronpa formula. It takes place between the events of Danganronpa 1 and Danganronpa 2 , and instead of taking place in a school, it takes place in the outside world. Instead of a puzzle game, Danganronpa Another Episode is primarily a third person action game.
You control Komaru Naegi, sister to Makoto, the protagonist from Danganronpa 1 . Komaru uses a hacking gun to fire truth bullets at Monokuma robots that have swarmed a ruined city. There are some light puzzle-solving sequences, though these take place in between the third person shooting segments.
In addition to controlling Komaru, you also get to control the serial killer from the first game, Genocide Jack. I won’t mention much more about this character, to avoid spoiling the first game, but I will say that Jack is a melee character with a fever gauge that plays very differently from Komaru.
As was the case with the other games in the Danganronpa series, Danganronpa Another Episode will be exclusive to the PS Vita. It will launch sometime this fall, though an official release date has not yet been given.
