Rock Band 4 Is Real

Rock Band 4 Is Real

Break out your plastic guitars everyone, because Rock Band 4 is real and it’s coming to next-gen consoles. Slated for release sometime in 2015, Harmonix has confirmed that the long-loved rhythm game franchise will be coming back and will be available on both the Xbox One and PS4.

Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of information about the new game. We do know that new peripherals will be coming out, but right now we aren’t quite sure if they are required. Harmonix has said that they really don’t want hardware to “split the community apart” and so they are “working their asses off” to support legacy Rock Band controllers on next generation systems. This of course means a whole set of new drivers but hey, if legacy arcade sticks can work, legacy guitars can probably also work.

They are also working really hard to make sure that all the DLC from previous generations also carries over. If you remember, most DLC and downloadable content isn’t forward compatible from PS3 to PS4 versions of games. But Harmonix is trying to work out all the licensing and legal whosafuzz to keep your library intact.

We will bring you more information on Rock Band 4 when we hopefully see it at E3 this year.
