Steam Controller Design Finalized

Steam Controller Design Finalized

The final version of the Steam Controller has finally been shown off at the Game Developers Conference this week in San Francisco.

Here’s what you have to look forward to. The controller has two massive track pads with the left one having a plus design in the center. The touch pads can be depressed like a button and the plus designed one doubles as a sort of rudimentary d-pad. In the middle of the controller are three buttons, a forward button, a back button, and a Steam home button. These will be used as the controller’s primary menu buttons. Below the track pads will be one analog stick and four face buttons. The face buttons are labeled X, Y, A, and B, and are colored basically the same as an Xbox 360 controller’s buttons. On the backside, you will find a bumper and a trigger also reminiscent of an Xbox 360 controller.

The new Steam controller will be available for $50 when it goes to retail. It will be sold alongside the new Steam Link, a device that will allow you to stream Steam games from your computer to your TV without needing a second computer to run them.
