This past weekend, Activision revealed that it has successfully sold 175 million copies of the Call of Duty series since it launched way back in 2003. This news was released courtesy of an infographic that was sent out prior to the 2015 Call of Duty eSports Championship in Los Angeles, California.
In related news, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the best selling game of 2014. Madden NFL 15 and Destiny were also the second and third picks on the list according to the NPD group.
Having had a chance to personally attend the Call of Duty Championship on Friday and Saturday, I can say that I truly believe that the franchise has sold as well as they’ve said. Advanced Warfare was a phenomenal game in its own right and I’m more than certain that it’s one of the top 3 contributors to these numbers. It will be interesting to see what Treyarch does in their next Call of Duty game, which we can all expect to hear about soon.
