Writer Selected for Metal Gear Solid Movie

Writer Selected for Metal Gear Solid Movie

Yesterday, Deadline released a report confirming that British writer Jay Basu has been selected to write the script for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. The film is currently in the works at Sony Pictures and is being produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Michael De Luca. The Kings of Summer’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts has also been brought on to direct the film.

Prior to this news, Basu has worked on several films including Monsters: Dark Continent , The Dinosaur Project , Fast Girls , and Song of Songs . While he is now officially the writer for Metal Gear Solid , Sony has yet to publically acknowledge this report.

In case you didn’t know already, video game adapted films have a well-documented history of being bad. It is also currently unclear how or if Kojima will have any involvement on this project given his current issues with Konami. In any event, it will be interesting to see how all this pans out as time goes on.

Do any of you have faith that this Metal Gear Solid film will actually be good? Please feel free to let us know your thoughts on the matter and more in the comments section below.
