Controversial Limerick Removed from Pillars of Eternity

Controversial Limerick Removed from Pillars of Eternity

Pillars of Eternity was a Kickstarter backed game, and one of the donation rewards was the ability to include tiny little stories on gravestones for each backer.

Well one of these gravestones included this poem “Here lies Firedorn, a hero in bed. He once was alive, but now he’s dead. The last woman he bedded, turned out a man. And crying in shame, off a cliff he ran.” It caused a bit of controversy as being possibly transphobic and was later removed.

OK, so I’m a very loud advocate for equal rights and progressivism. But I’m a little split on this. On one hand, as far as video game portrayals of trans men and women, this is moreso on the harmless side. On the other hand, the decision to remove the poem really doesn’t affect the game in any profound way, other than perhaps making that backer a little salty, and I believe that may be worth it in order to make the entirety of the trans crowd feel better.

What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments.
