New Soapstone App Lets You Leave Dark Souls Messages In Real Life

New Soapstone App Lets You Leave Dark Souls Messages In Real Life

One of the most attractive parts of the Dark Souls franchise is the ability to leave hints for other players via asynchronous multiplayer. These hints would be littered around the ground in glowing text which said things such as “try jumping” or “I did it!”

Well now you can do the same thing using a new Soapstone app on your mobile phone. This app lets you leave Dark Souls style messages around the world using GPS coordinates. When someone reaches a location where a Soapstone message lies, their phone will notify them.

This is very similar to another app Dropp, which allowed you to do the same thing. However, Dropp has had its fair share of problems in that it requires your GPS to always be running, which is a huge drain on your cell phone battery.

Another problem this app has is that it only allows you to leave messages in Dark Souls style. That means you can only use preset phrases and rearrange them to get any sort of meaning. This limits the usefulness of the program and instead makes it little more than a novelty.

But if you are curious, you can pick it up for both iOS and Android right now.
