Updated Final Fantasy XV Demo Coming Next Month

Episode Duscae, the demo for Final Fantasy XV is going to be updated soon. Episode Duscae 2.0 will be launching sometime in early June. It will include a variety of changes and improvements based on feedback from fans on the original demo.

This is a pretty new thing for demos. Usually demos just come out and work resumes on the official game. However, Square-Enix is using this demo sort of like a beta. When fans give feedback, they change the demo over and over again until they get something they like. Many issues, such as the sluggish action, camera problems, lock on bugs, and more, are being addressed. However, many other problems, such as the lack of a female party member, the exploitative nature of some female NPCs, the questionable voice acting (though Noctis will be adjusted), and more, may be too integrated into the game’s concept to be removed. The game has been delayed and has changed hands through a number of different directors, so there are a lot of things which just can’t be changed at this point.

That being said, director Hajime Tabata is trying to keep his mind open about possible changes to the finished product.

“From a first-party perspective, there’s been no precedent of applying patches to demos, so we’re currently discussing with them to see if it’s feasible,” Tabata said.

We will give you a list of changes when the new demo releases.
