BioShock Creators Making New Blind Horror Game

BioShock Creators Making New Blind Horror Game

A team of former BioShock developers have assembled to create a new studio, Deep End Games, now that Irrational Games has been closed. They are kicking off their studio’s opening with a brand new horror game project called Perception , which tackles horror in a completely different way, by making you play blind.

The main character of the game is Cassie Thornton, a blind woman, who can only “see” when sound bounces off the world around her. As a result, the world you are in is pitch black, only illuminating when you make a tap of your walking stick.

Cassie is trying to get through a mansion called Echo Bluff, while being haunted by something called The Presence. She is unsure what this presence is, but it seems otherworldly.

This is where the horror of the game comes along. You can only see the world around you via sound, but sound also alerts The Presence to where you are. You can hide in silence to try and make The Presence go away, but that essentially means hiding in pitch blackness. You have no way to fight back. All you can do is run, hide, and hope for the best.

We will give you more information on Perception as it becomes available.
